Caravan Insurance and the Snow

Caravan insurance has been in the news recently. Following the recent spell of icy weather there has been a big increase in the number of caravan owners finding out just what their insurance policy entitles them to when they are involved in an accident, figures show.

Used Car Expert magazine states that it has experienced a rise in the number of people making enquiries about disputes, which could include those keen to discover if their caravan insurance policy will cover them and pay out.

Their website stated that some drivers had seen their cars and caravans written off as a result of these snow-related incidents, for instance when a parked car is hit by another vehicle.

Editor of the website, Matt Tumbridge revealed that “It is particularly frustrating for car owners who weren’t even at the car when the accident happened.” Noting that many of the country’s roads have been left untreated by councils during the cold snap, greatly increasing the chances of these kind of collisions happening.

Leading replacement car solutions firm Accident Exchange have reiterated the law to motorists, stressing that in the circumstance where a car in front of you slides and your vehicle is in collision with then, you will still be regarded as liable.

It is very important for caravan owners to have a clear understanding of what their insurance policy covers them for, but equally as importantly, what it doesn’t cover them for.
