Saving Money On Your Caravan Insurance: Tip 5

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

In the fifth of our series on ways to get cheaper caravan insurance we look at caravan clubs.

There are several caravan clubs you can join, the major ones being the Caravan Club and the Camping and Caravanning Club. And the great thing about being a member of these clubs is that you will find many caravan insurance companies will offer you discounts on you caravan insurance premiums.

If you are wondering why this is, it is because membership of these clubs is a good indicator that you are serious about your caravanning, and take security and safety seriously. As a result of this you will present a lesser risk, and thus a better bet for the caravan insurers. These are exactly the type of people that caravan insurers like to protect.

Membership of these clubs starts at around £40, and benefits extend beyond just getting money off of your insurance. For instance Caravan Club membership pays for itself in just 5 nights at a site with pitch fees savings offered at club sites. So all in all membership makes excellent sense, and not only because of the caravan insurance premiums.

Record Year for the Caravan Club

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

What a year it has been for the so-called ”Staycation’. The credit crunch inflicted trend continues to have a tremendous effect on the caravanning industry. The Caravan Club are reporting bed nights up almost 500,000 from 15.6 million last year.

There was also a rise in the number of first-time caravanners, with a record number of new members joining at the International Caravan and Motorhome Show in October. This is a significant increase of 23% on the 2009.

Even the colder autumn months failed to dampen enthusiasm for the Great Outdoors, with large numbers taking weekend breaks in their caravan well past the summer. This is borne out by the fact that 80 Caravan Club sites will stay open until the New Year and 50 are open all-year round.

The Caravan Club’s Director of Marketing, Nick Lomas said ‘Our season has been terrific with many hundreds of thousands of happy caravanners. Looking to the future, bookings for 2010 look set to be buoyant, which is great news for the domestic tourism industry.’
