The Importance of Caravan Insurance

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

The costs of taking a caravan holiday can really start to add up. when take into account thing like food, fuel, shopping expenses (gas bottles etc…) you may be tempted to think that you can save some money by ignoring any kind of caravan insurance. This though is not a good idea.

Any towed vehicle, be it trailer tent, mobile home, or caravan, must at least have third party insurance when it is on the public highway. The chances are that motorists will be covered by their car insurance, but this is not necessarily the case, and they may find themselves on the wrong side of the law, and ignorance is not a defence in such circumstances.

Caravan insurance is an important consideration, and caravan owners should budget for it. To not do so could cost dearly.

It is a sobering thought that over 5000 caravans are stolen in the UK each year, despite the fact that this figure represents a near 50% drop. Stolen caravans is a very real concern for owners, and it is important they ensure they are fully protected for such an eventuality. When added to the risks of fire, and damage sustained in transit, it is clear that owners are taking a big chance if they don’t insure their caravan suitably.

Many caravan owners invest amounts of money into the fittings and furnishings of their caravans. This should also be protected, and owners should ensure their policy offers adequate coverage.

Not surprisingly, given the increasing popularity of caravanning in the UK, the caravan insurance market is a very competitive field. This is obviously great news for caravanners as it helps to drive down premium costs of their policies.

Once a caravan is properly insured, the owners are ready to head out on a carefree trip around this beautiful island of ours. Be it to the peacefulness of West Wales, the rugged beauty of the Scottish highlands, the wonderful beaches of Devon and Cornwall.  All of these places are freely and cheaply available for the caravan owner.

Holidays are about getting away from the stresses and strains of our everyday lives, and for real peace of mind a suitable caravan insurance policy is very much a must.

His Name is Rio and he Stayed at Prestatyn Sands

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Oh Rio, Rio, and he earns a hundred grand (a week that is).

Well by jingo, loadsamoney England football player Rio Ferdinand, more akin to luxury cruises, yachts, and paradise islands has taken his family on a weekend caravan holiday at Prestatyn Sands.

Described as the “gateway to the North Wales coast”, where the “mountain air meets salty sea breezes,” the Haven owned park played host to the family Ferdinand in one of their top-of-the-range Prestige caravans, putting him back £400.

He was mobbed by children as he played in the park with his sons, and also had a go on the go-karting track at the park.

A Haven spokeswoman described how “affable” he was with the children, saying he “signed autographs, and then tried out the go-kart track.” Pondering why an internationally famous multi-millionaire would have chosen such a cheap option for a holiday the spokeswoman added: ““Perhaps he recognised that with two young children, people like to get a value-for-money family holiday and perhaps children are unimpressed by five-star hotels and would rather have go-karting.”

It’s good to see Rio backing the ‘staycation’ and the British Tourism industry. Now all he has to do is win the World Cup next year.
